Y la campaña de 2019 llegó a su fin… Sentimientos encontrados en este día. Contentos de todo lo que hemos descubierto, del trabajo hecho y de la gente conocida, pero tristes porque queda un año hasta que podamos volver.
Aprovechando que ayer adelantamos trabajo de finalización de campaña, hoy hemos tenido un día tranquilo, sacando los últimos pequeños fósiles que asomaban, allanando terreno, limpiando cuadrículas y recogiendo todo. Incluso ha dado tiempo para plantear estrategia para futuras campañas, en las que muy seguramente participará Diego, un pequeño visitante espontáneo de 9 años que se ha vuelto a pasar hoy por el yacimiento derrochando ilusión. ¡Te esperamos por aquí en nuestra búsqueda de fósiles!
El balance de la de este año no es nada malo. Con el Gomphotherium como protagonista sin duda (acertamos sin saberlo con el cartel y el hilo conductor de las puertas abiertas), ha habido un gran número de piezas bastante interesantes. Y lo mejor de todo, muchos de los participantes de las excavaciones este año se quedan con ganas de repetir, así que les esperaremos para seguir barriendo el campo.
Ahora toca descansar, rellenar bases de datos, revisar el material extraído y trabajar todo lo que se pueda sobre él. El mono de destornillador y brocha nos acompañará unas cuantas semanas.
